On Friday, February 11, Prof. Zvobgo delivered the first International Law Society lunch talk of the spring 2022 semester at William & Mary Law School. She presented research in progress with International Justice Lab affiliated scholar, Dr. Suparna Chaudhry, on international human rights advocacy around death penalty abolition worldwide. Using survey experiments, Drs. Chaudhry and Zvobgo are investigating whether arguments against the death penalty as a punishment for rape are persuasive to ordinary citizens, in particular arguments based on the death penalty's ineffectiveness at deterring crimes and its incompatibility with human rights standards.
