Dr. Jenn Trivedi kicks off spring Nexus Series

The spring semester's first IJL Nexus Series talk was on February 2 at the Global Research Institute. Jenn Trivedi, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Delaware, gave a talk on her research agenda, titled "Disaster Effects Begin Long Before Disasters." Research on disasters demonstrates the differing and disproportionate effects disasters can have on people depending on their identity, background, resources, knowledge, and more. Dr. Trivedi unpacked the importance of understanding the perspectives people have, the decisions they make, and what influences them – including broader forces like history and culture. This is critical to knowing why disasters unfold the way they do, what impacts there will be on recovery, and what steps we can take to transform future processes and events. Thank you for visiting. We look forward to the next time!
